Even though English is my second language, “moon” was the first word I spoke in this lifetime. As a child in Denmark, my parents would take me on nightwalks when the weather was good and point to the moon, prompting me to utter her name.
My fascination with the moon has waxed and waned many times throughout my life and I continue to be intrigued by the teachings she has to offer us about cycles, patience, change and mystery. My sun sign is cancer, which is ruled by the moon and in the last few years, I’ve been tracking and noting my moods (many) and energy levels and how they fluctuate throughout the mo(o)nth. I’m currently doing a course online with astrologer Jules Ferrari called Moon Oracle and am loving learning much more about how the sky above influences our life here on earth.
When I decided to start offering classes here on my own platform, the first thing I knew for sure that I wanted to offer was a Moon Practice class on every New and Full moon day. At first I wasn’t entirely sure what these classes would encompass, but as time has gone on, I have found a loose structure that works magically well.
First, we discuss the philosophy pertaining to the particular sign in which the moon is, and whether the moon is new (the start of a new cycle, with potential for manifestation) or full (the highest point in the cycle, ripe for shedding and letting go). We then chant a mantra relevant to the themes that stand out, practice a seated pranayama (breathing exercise), before moving into a gentle yin yoga sequence which leads into a deep relaxation. At the end of the class, I do a live tarot pull, offer some journaling prompts and a magical ritual…
So far, the classes have become the most electrifying part of my teaching schedule. I am receiving the best feedback from these classes, and many students write to me telling me about how their intentions are manifesting after the rituals, and that the practices are having a profound effect on their lives.
Because the moon schedule is shifting every 14-15 days, we don’t have a fixed time for the classes: they are elusive like the moon herself. To find the next class, check out the timetable here. You can either drop in to a class for $15, or attend the bi-monthly classes complimentary on the All-Access Membership ($55 per month). And if you can’t join live, the replay is always available for 14 days after.
Hope to see you soon for some Moon Magic.
